Kurt Volker

Distinguished Fellow, Center for European Policy Analysis

Kurt Volker has served as the US Ambassador to NATO and as executive director of the McCain Institute for International Leadership. Ambassador Volker is a leading expert in US foreign and national security policy with over 30 years’ experience in a variety of government, academic and private sector capacities. He served as US Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations from 2017 to 2019, and as US Ambassador to NATO in 2008–2009. He has been a senior fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations, Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies since September 2009, and a senior advisor at the Atlantic Council since October 2009. Currently, Ambassador Volker is a distinguished fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis. In 2006, the President of Estonia awarded Ambassador Volker the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana, 3rd Class, for supporting Estonia’s accession to NATO.
