Media Accreditation: Lennart Meri Conference 2021

Lennart Meri Conference 2021 entitled “Today’s Neighbor, Tomorrow Your Problem” (Mine Tomorrow) will take place on 3-5 September in Tallinn, Estonia. The conference focuses on both close and far-away neighbours, whose challenges and success have the greatest impact on the foreign policy and security of the northern and eastern parts of Europe.

As always, the conference starts on Friday afternoon and ends on Sunday late afternoon. The working language is English and participation for invited guests and accredited journalists only. This year, the conference will take place at the Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel. A more detailed overview of the topics to be discussed and a preliminary agenda (updated regularly).

President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid, Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas, Secretary General of the European External Action Service Stefano Sannino, NATO Deputy Secretary General Baiba Braže, Minister of State for European Affairs of France Clément Beaune, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces General Rajmund Andrzejczak, and other high-level politicians and senior government officials will speak at the conference.

The discussions will be spiced up by renowned thought leaders and experts, including author and associate professor of the practice of International Affairs at Johns Hopkins University Yascha Mounk, former Indian diplomat and bestselling author Vikas Swarup, expert in artificial intelligence and robotics Sabina Jeschke, deputy director of the Foundation for Strategic Research (FRS) Bruno Tertrais, executive director for Europe and Eurasia at the Open Society Foundations’ Daniela Schwarzer, vice president of the Munich Security Conference Boris Ruge, sociologist at the Levada Center Alexey Levinson, senior research fellow for Chinese political and security affairs at The Heritage Foundation Dean Cheng, etc.

Accredited journalists, photographers and cameramen will be granted access to all panel discussions and they can participate in the pre- and side-events. Morning and evening sessions will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule and have restricted access.

The evolving COVID-19 situation continues to keep the LMC Team on our toes as we prepare for September. You can follow the latest developments in Estonia on the official government website. Please note that only registered guests, accredited journalists, and staff, who are vaccinated or tested, will have access to the conference area. When entering the conference area, you will be asked to provide a vaccination certificate (physical or digital) or a document proving that you have been ill with COVID-19. We will ask all our unvaccinated guests and staff to take a COVID-19 rapid test every day of the conference. Further information about LMC 2021 COVID-19 policy.

Please apply for the accreditation at your earliest convenience, but no later than on Monday, 30 August 2021. The organisers will review the accreditation requests no later than 31 August 2021.
