Senior Fellow at the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research
Dr Akiko Fukushima is a senior fellow at the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research. With a PhD from Osaka University and a MA from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University, she was a professor at School of Global Studies and Collaboration, Aoyama Gakuin University, and director of policy studies at the National Institute for Research Advancement (NIRA). Dr Fukushima is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Hague Journal of Diplomacy and non-resident fellow of the Lowy Institute. She has served on the Japanese government committees. Dr Fukushima authored Japanese Foreign Policy: The Emerging Logic of Multilateralism (MacMillan, 1999) and Multilateralism Recalibrated (CSIS, 2017).
