Ingrida Šimonytė has been the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania since December 2020, having been previously elected twice as a Member of the Lithuanian Parliament (the Seimas) in 2016 and in 2020. In the 2016-2020 Parliament, she worked in the Committee on European Affairs, Anticorruption Commission, Commission for the Rights of People with Disabilities, and was the Chair of the Committee on Audit. From 2013, she was a Member of the Board at the Bank of Lithuania, also a lecturer and the President of the Council of Vilnius University. From 2009 to 2012, she served as the Minister for Finance of the Republic of Lithuania. Prime Minister Šimonytė holds master’s degree in Economics. During the pandemics, she volunteered for some NGOs. Currently, the Prime Minister volunteers in different activities helping Ukrainian refugees. Prime Minister Šimonytė received the Cross of the Officer of the Order of Vytautas the Great in 2015 and the Clear Wave award for transparent and responsible activities in 2012.
