Taavi Veskimägi has been the chairman of the board of the Estonian electricity and gas transmission system operator Elering AS since the company’s set-up in 2009. He is also the founder and the Chairman of the Council of the Estonian Defence Industry Association and the member of the board of the Estonian Employers’ Confederation. Mr Veskimägi was a member of the Estonian parliament for two consecutive terms. In 2003-05, he was the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Estonia. Mr Veskimägi held the position of Vice President of the Parliament from 2005 to 2006. Until 2007, he was the co-chairman of the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union. His professional civil servant career started in 1996 at the Ministry of Finance where he worked as a head of the Public Administration Department and non-political advisor to the Ministry. Mr Veskimägi is a member of the board of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E). In 2017, Mr Veskimägi was bestowed with the Estonian state decoration the Order of the White Star as a developer of the energy sector.
