The Lennart Meri Conference is an invitation only event. The invitations will be e-mailed and we only approve registrations made in our registrations system. Please register at your earliest convenience as the seats are limited!
As the rate of vaccinated people is steadily rising and rate of infections steadily declining in Estonia, we are step by step returning to our daily lives. The LMC team is following the situation closely and will continue to be guided by the recommendations of the Estonian Health Board and government. We are aiming to organise a physical conference with guests both from home and abroad and will strictly follow the health protocols and codes of conduct which are in force in September.
When completing your online registration (see the link below), we ask you to indicate whether you have been vaccinated and/or have been infected by covid-19 during the last 6 months. This is for our information only and will be used to predict requirements for on-site testing. We also ask you to have your vaccination certificate or other valid documentation with you during your stay.
Further, we expect all our conference guests to have a valid international insurance policy. We are not able to take responsibility for any medical expenses that may occur during your trip to Tallinn (except for any required on-site rapid testing).
A more detailed health protocol will follow in due course, but please be assured that we will do everything possible to ensure a safe and smooth conference in September.
How to get here
Estonia is accessible by plane, train, bus and ferry. The Tallinn airport is located only 4 km from the city center and is well connected by public transportation and taxi service. The bus station, train station and harbour are all situated in the city center. The bus station has connections between Russia, Latvia and Lithuania. The railway has connections to Latvia and Russia. The Port of Tallinn connects Tallinn to Finland and Sweden by the ferry.
Travel arrangements and accommodation
For speakers, we cover costs for flights and accommodation. We do not not cover costs for local transfers in country of residence. If a speaker fails to attend the conference for personal reasons (family, sickness etc.), we reserve the right to request for the refund at least 50% of the flight costs.
For other participants, we cooperate with a number of hotels close to the conference venue. To book your stay at any of these hotels you can kindly use our conference discount code. For all guests accommodated in hotels connected to the conference we provide transportation from and to the airport, the harbour, and the bus or railway station. Your personal transfer information will be given to you upon arrival at the registration desk.
The registration desk opens at 1 PM on Friday. We kindly ask you to collect your badge at your earliest convenience to avoid queuing. Our colleagues at the registration desk will be at your disposal from early morning to late evening during the conference and will be happy to help you with any questions or inquiries you might have.
The conference language is English. Participants are free to use the information provided in the public panels. Information provided in panels under the Chatham House Rule, neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed. We ask you to respect this approach during and after the conference in all forms of your communication, as it is in our common interest to facilitate a trusted environment for open and candid exchange of opinions during the conference.
The ICDS will conduct social media outreach, and encourages the guests to do the same (Facebook @ICDS.Tallinn and Twitter @ICDS_Tallinn). Participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed in discussions that are held under the Chatham House Rule.
Security of guests is of paramount importance to us. Therefore, we kindly ask you to wear your badge at all times when attending the conference. Access to the conference will be only permitted to those wearing their badge provided by the organisers at the registration desk. Please note that the badge is non-transferable and any violation of this policy may result in expulsion from the conference. We also ask for your patience and understanding if and when subjected to a security check upon your arrival to the conference. In case of an emergency please inform the nearest organising team member.
Side events transportation
Presidential dinner is by invitation only. For attendees of the dinner, we will arrange bus transport from the conference venue to the respective venue.
Tours – we will arrange the bus transportation to the chosen tour from the conference venue.
Timezone, money & banks
Estonia uses East-European Time, EET, which is one hour ahead of Central European Time, CET, in other words GMT+2 in winter and GMT+3 in summer.
From 2011, Estonia is using the Euro (EUR), the single European currency. ATMs can be found all around Tallinn. Almost all businesses accept bank cards (even for the smallest payments) and the local people carry very little cash.
