Alain Bécoulet
Head of Engineering, ITER Organisation
Dr Alain Bécoulet is head of engineering for ITER, an international nuclear fusion research and engineering demonstration project in France. Previously, he was director of the French Magnetic Fusion Research Institute. He initiated the European Task Force on Integrated Tokamak Modelling and headed it from 2003 to 2006, chaired the European Topical Group on Heating and Current Drive from 2007 to 2010 and the European Coordinating Committee on Lower Hybrid Current Drive, and was a member of the EFDA Science and Technology Advisory Committee from 2001 to 2011. He is the author of L’Energie de Fusion (Odile Jacob Edition, 2019) and Star Power: ITER and the International Quest for Fusion Energy (MIT Press, 2022).
