Intelligence reporter at Politico

Amy Mackinnon is an award-winning national security reporter with Politico, focused on intelligence. Ms Mackinnon reports on the US intelligence agencies, the congressional oversight committees, as well as global intelligence operations. Ms Mackinnon joined Politico from Foreign Policy magazine, where she spent six years covering the waterfront of US national security and intelligence matters under both the Trump and Biden administrations. She has reported extensively on Russian intelligence operations, disinformation, and the wars in Ukraine and Gaza. Ms Mackinnon has reported from over a dozen countries in Europe and the Middle East and began her journalism career working in Moscow. She is the recipient of the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia award for her reporting on homophobic vigilantes in Russia. Ms Mackinnon is a graduate of the Craig Newmark School of Journalism at CUNY, as well as Corvinus University of Budapest and the University of Glasgow.
