Dr Aziz Burkhanov is an associate professor at the Graduate School of Public Policy at Nazarbayev University in Astana (Kazakhstan). His research interests include nationalism and national identity issues, language policy, governance, policy styles, and political institutions. Dr Burkhanov has previously worked in policy analysis and consulting as a research fellow at the Institute of World Economics and Politics, a think tank advising the Kazakhstan government, and as a senior associate at IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA).
