Beth Sanner is a Distinguished Fellow at the German Marshall Fund, having previously held a wide range of national security positions for over 35 years with a deep focus on transatlantic issues. This included roles at the CIA, including the Deputy Director for Russia and European Analysis and the Chief of Balkans and Central Europe Analysis, as well as at the National Security Council and the Department of State. Ms Sanner’s last government role was as Deputy Director of National Intelligence for Mission Integration (2019–21), where she oversaw the integration of Intelligence Community collection, analysis, and programs and served as President Trump’s intelligence briefer. Previously, Ms Sanner was the Director of the President’s Daily Brief, Vice Chair of the National Intelligence Council, and a senior executive in the CIA’s Directorate of Analysis. Ms Sanner currently serves as Director of Geopolitics at International Capital Strategies, a Distinguished Fellow at the German Marshall Fund, a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at Harvard University’s Belfer Center, and a CNN contributor.
