Dr Daivis Petraitis is a Lecturer in war and conflict studies at the Baltic Defence College. He also serves as an independent analyst on security and defence matters in Russia, the former Soviet Union republics, and China. He holds an engineering degree from Vilnius State University, Lithuania, an MPP in international security and economic policy from Maryland University, USA, and a PhD in political science from the Lithuanian Military Academy. As a military officer, he held different positions in civil defence, arms control and verification, and military information analysis. His last assignment was the Deputy National Military Representative at SHAPE (NATO). As a civilian, he worked at the MOD as Head of the defence policy section and as a Deputy Director/Chief Adviser in the international relations and operations department/group.
