Nils Schmid
Member of the German Bundestag
Dr Nils Schmid has been a Member of the German Bundestag for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since 2017. He serves on the Committee on Foreign Affairs as the Spokesperson and Group Coordinator on Foreign Affairs for the SPD Parliamentary Group. Additionally, he is the German co-chair of the board of the Franco-German Parliamentary Assembly. From 2011 to 2016, he served as the German state of Baden-Württemberg’s Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs and as Deputy Minister-President. Lawyer by training, he completed his doctoral thesis on “Public Facility Management, Public Debt, and Public Property” in 2006.
