Nils Schmid
Member of the Bundestag
Dr Nils Schmid serves as a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the German Bundestag. Since 2018, he has been the Spokesman on Foreign Affairs of the Social Democratic Party (SPD)
Parliamentary Group. From 1997 to 2017, Nils Schmid was a member of the State Parliament of Baden-Wurttemberg. In 2006, his party elected him as Deputy Chairman of the SPD Parliamentary
Group. In 2009, he became Chairman of the SPD Baden-Wurttemberg. From 2011-16, he served as Minister of Finance and Economy and as Deputy Minister President of Baden-Wurttemberg.
After securing a mandate for the Bundestag in the German federal elections in 2017, he resigned his seat in the State Parliament. He served as a member of the supervisory board of the Energie
Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW), Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) and Landesbank BadenWürttemberg (LBBW).
