Edi Rama

Prime Minister of Albania

Edi Rama is an Albanian politician, painter, writer, and the 33rd Prime Minister of Albania, serving since 2013. He has been the chairman of the Socialist Party of Albania since 2005. Previously, he held the position of Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports from 1998 to 2000. Rama was first elected mayor of Tirana in 2000 and was re-elected in 2003 and 2007. With a remarkably rich and diverse career path, Mr Rama counts his contribution in arts, sports and teaching, as a publicist and politician. He used to be a professor of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts, a player of the national basketball team, and he has authored books, including two art books containing his works. He has also been author and participant of many international art exhibitions held, for example, in New York, London, Berlin, Venice, and Paris.
