Igli Hasani

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania

HE Mr Igli Hasani has been the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania since 2023. Previously, he held the position of the Co-Ordinator of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities. Before joining the OSCE, he was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Albania to the International Organisations in Vienna (2018-21). During the Albanian OSCE Chairmanship, Ambassador Hasani was the Chairperson of the OSCE Permanent Council and Chair of the Mediterranean Contact Group as part of the OSCE Troika in 2019. In 2021, he assumed the position of the Chairperson of Asian Partners for Co-operation Group. HE Mr Hasani has held various high management roles in the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Albania, including as Secretary General (2017-18), Director General for Defence Policy (2015-17), Director of NATO and Foreign Relations (2013-14), and Director of Euro-Atlantic Integrations (2013-14). He holds degrees in law, sociology, and philosophy from the University of Tirana and a master’s in international relations from King’s College London and is a graduate of the Royal College of Defence Studies.
