Jakov Milatović is the President of Montenegro. As a scholarship recipient, he studied internationally, spending time at Illinois State University, the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and La Sapienza University in Rome. He completed his master’s degree in economics at the University of Oxford as a British government scholar. He further enhanced his education through programmes organised by the United Nations, the IMF, the London School of Economics, and Stanford University. President Milatović worked at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, focusing on economic analysis in Southeast Europe. In 2020, he became Montenegro’s Minister of Economic Development. In 2022, he co-founded the Europe Now! Movement. He was elected President of Montenegro and assumed office on 20 May 2023. His key goal is EU membership by 2028 through reforms and stronger institutions.
