Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic
Markéta Pekarová Adamová is the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and the First Vice-Chairwoman of TOP 09, a political party she joined in 2009. In 2010, she was elected to the municipal government of Prague 8 and then to the city council of Prague 8 as a Councillor for Social Affairs and the European Funds. In 2012, Ms Pekarová Adamová was elected chairwoman of the county organisation for TOP 09 in Prague 8 and a member of TOP 09 Prague regional organisation presidency since 2013. In 2013, she was elected Member of Parliament. In 2017, she was elected the First Vice-Chairwoman of the fifth National Assembly of TOP 09. In 2019, Ms Pekarová Adamová was elected to lead TOP 09 at the 6th National Assembly. She served as the Chair of the Subcommittee on Human Rights (2014-17) and Vice-Chair of the Committee on Social Policy (2017-21). Prior to entering politics, she worked in a human resources agency and then in an educational agency, as well as had extensive volunteering experience.
