Sameh Hassan Shoukryis an Egyptian diplomat who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairsof the Arab Republic of Egypt (2014-24). Previously, he served as Ambassador to the United States of America (2008-12) and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva (2005-08).Before becoming an Assistant Foreign Minister in 2003, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Egypt to Austria, Permanent Representative of A.R.E. to the International Organizations in Vienna, Governor of Egypt on the Board of Governors of the IAEA, Chairman of the Group of 77 & China to the International Organizations in Vienna, and Head of Delegation for the Negotiations on the International Treaty to Combat Transnational Organized Crime between 1999-2003.From 1976 until 1999, he filled a wide variety of professional roles, including Secretary for Information and follow-up to the President of Egypt, Member of the Delegation of Egypt to the NPT Review and Extension Conference, and Director of the United States and Canada Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, among others. He earned his degree in law at Ein Shams University in Cairo.
