Thomas Röwekamp
Chairman of the Defence Committee of the German Bundestag
Thomas Röwekamp has been a Member of the German Bundestag since 2021. Since 2025, he has served as Chair of the Defence Committee and as a substitute member of the Committee on Research, Technology, Space, and Technology Assessment. From 2022–25, he was CDU/CSU group coordinator in the 1st Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry (Afghanistan). He previously led the CDU parliamentary group in the Bremen Parliament (2007–21) and served as a Member of the Bremen Parliament (1991–2003 and 2007–21). From 2003–07, he was Bremen’s Senator for Interior and Sport and Mayor (2005–07). A CDU member since 1983, he is a lawyer (since 1994) and notary (since 2014).
