Deputy Director-General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea
Yoon-jeong Baek is the Deputy Director-General for the International Security Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of Korea (ROK), overseeing policies on cross-regional and emerging security challenges. She has extensive experience in both multilateral and regional security frameworks. She served twice at the Korean Permanent Mission in Geneva, most recently as Counsellor (2021–23). Her regional expertise in Northeast Asia includes roles as Director of the Inter-Korean Policy Division (2019–21). Drawing on her practical experience in European multilateral diplomacy, NATO–ROK partnership, and Indo-Pacific security affairs, she offers vital insights into the deepening strategic ties between the two regions. Previously, she served as Secretary to the President for Civil and Social Agenda (2023–24). She holds a JD from the University of Utah and is a qualified US attorney.
