Making Values Count
The fourth Lennart Meri Conference, entitled ‘Making Values Count’ focused on key global foreign and security policy issues related to European security and the values and institutions that underpinned it.
The prospects for re-energising Europe’s value-based foreign policy; the future of the European neighbourhood; the wider Middle East; the transatlantic link; the economy of the euro zone; and Russia. We also addressed emerging themes such as Arctic security, unconventional energy sources, and cyber security.
Alongside the conference programme, the guests had the opportunity to tour Tallinn’s Old Town with Estonia’s former Prime Minister Mart Laar, to visit the Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence or the headquarters of Skype, and to enjoy a cultural programme.
Last but not least, twenty years after the restoration of their independence, we paid tribute to the contributions of the three Baltic states.
