Senior Fellow for Russia and Eurasia at the International Institute for Strategic Studies
Dr Nigel Gould-Davies is a Senior Fellow for Russia and Eurasia at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London. He specialises in the politics, economics, and diplomacy of the post-Soviet region, and is completing a study of Western economic statecraft towards Russia. Dr Gould-Davies earlier served in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, where his roles included Ambassador to Belarus, head of the Economic Section in Moscow, and project director in the Strategy Unit. He has also held senior government relations roles in the private sector in Central and Southeast Asia. From 1996-2000, he taught politics and international relations at Oxford University. He is the author of Tectonic Politics: Global Political Risk in an Age of Transformation (Brookings, 2019). Dr Gould-Davies holds a master’s degree from Oxford University and a PhD from Harvard.
