Philippe de Montenon

Commander of French Land Forces and Commander of the French Army in Europe

Lieutenant General Philippe de Montenon is Commander of French Land Forces and Commander of French Army Command Europe.  An officer of the French Army trained at Saint-Cyr (1994), he began his career at the 13th Parachute Dragoon Regiment, a special forces unit, with which he was engaged several times in the Balkans, Africa, and Afghanistan. He took command of it in 2013 and led Operation SABRE in the Sahel. Holding an MBA from HEC and trained in the United States, he later served in the Ministry of Defence and at the French Embassy in Washington. Appointed General in 2019, he joined the cyber command and then the CPCO, which he directed. Promoted to Lieutenant General, he took command of the French Land Forces and Army Command Europe in 2025.
