Roman Dobrokhotov

Editor-in-Chief, The Insider

Roman Dobrokhotov is founder and editor-in-chief of The Insider, one of Russia’s most well-known investigative news sites. Having graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations with a PhD in political science, he started working as a journalist in 2005. In 2013, he founded The Insider. Along with the international research network Bellingcat, Dobrokhotov has covered some of the most notorious cases Russia has in recent years allegedly been involved in: the poisoning of Russian spy Sergei Skripal in the United Kingdom and Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, the fatal missile attack on Malaysian Airlines Boeing MH17 over Ukraine, and the murder of a Georgian citizen in Berlin’s Tiergarten. He has also participated in investigations concerning Russian trolls and hackers, the invasion of Ukraine, the corruption of the Russian government and many others.
