Sergei Medvedev
Professor at Charles University
Dr Sergei Medvedev is a historian, writer, journalist, and professor at Charles University. Over the past 30 years, he has held research positions and professorships in Germany, Italy, and Finland, and was a Professor and Associate Dean at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow (2004–20). He left Russia in March 2022. Dr Medvedev’s latest books include The Return of the Russian Leviathan (2020, translated into 12 languages), A War Made in Russia (2023) and Biopower in Putin’s Russia (2024). He studied at Moscow University and Columbia University (New York City) and received a PhD in history.
