Sevgil Musaieva is the Editor-in-Chief of Ukrainska Pravda, a leading independent media outlet that has become a symbol of journalistic resilience and integrity during wartime. With the outbreak of Russia’s full-scale war, she successfully mobilised her team and ensured the continued independent reporting to millions of Ukrainians and a global audience. On her initiative, an English-language version of Ukrainska Pravda was launched, quickly bringing Ukraine’s voice to the international community. Ms Musaieva is the author of numerous high-profile reports, co-author of a book about Mustafa Dzhemilev, a six-time recipient of the Presszvanie Award for economic journalism, and a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. In 2022, Time magazine included her in the list of the 100 most influential people in the world, recognising her courageous and principled stance as a journalist and media leader during the war. Additionally, she was awarded the International Press Freedom Award by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), honouring her contributions to upholding journalistic standards and independent reporting during wartime.
