Shashank Joshi is Defence Editor at The Economist, where he covers national security, intelligence, nuclear and military affairs. He is also a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Department of War Studies at King's College London. Prior to joining The Economist in 2018, he served as a Senior Fellow at the Tony Blair Institute (2017-18), a Senior Research Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (2014-18), where he now serves on the Advisory Board, and Research Associate at Oxford University’s Changing Character of War Programme (2014-16). He holds degrees from Cambridge and Harvard, where he was a Kennedy Scholar from Britain to the United States. He lectures regularly at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom and has given evidence to the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committees of the House of Commons.
