Alisa Ganieva is a writer of fiction and essays. In 2009, her first long story - Salam, Dalgat! about her native land in the Caucasus - won the prestigious Debut Prize a major literary award for young writers. She has won several awards for her works and was noted by The Guardian in 2015 as one of the 30 most talented young people in Moscow. Ganieva is also a civil activist and a member of the Moscow PEN-center board, a global network of writers that defend freedom of speech and protect writers at risk.
