Tensions having been rising in the Middle East since October 2023. While the international community keeps calling for a ceasefire and negotiations in Gaza, turmoil is spreading across the region. For the first time, Iran and Israel have attacked each other directly. Is there a risk of the conflict intensifying further? Can Israel maintain its fledgling diplomatic relations with the Arab states? What will the long-term impacts of this war be on the regional power balance?
