Night Owl Session under Chatham House Rule

Navigating Geopolitical Challenges in the Black Sea Region

May 17, 22:00-23:30
Room: Shanghai

Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine put the Black Sea in the international spotlight again, highlighting its importance for global food security and showing that instability in the Black Sea threatens global trade routes. Russia’s illegal military presence in Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine destabilizes the region further by sabotaging every move they make towards the West. Limiting Russian expansion is crucial for the security of the region. What can be done to decrease Russian influence in the region? How can the Black Sea be made safe for shipping? What is the risk to Moldova in choosing an EU path?
