Christo Grozev

Investigating Journalist, Bellingcat

Christo Grozev is lead Russia investigator with Bellingcat, focusing on security threats, extraterritorial clandestine operations, and the weaponisation of information. His investigations into the identity of the suspects in the 2018 Novichok poisonings in the UK earned him and his team the European Prize for Investigative Journalism. Christo Grozev spearheaded the investigation into Russia’s renewed chemical weapons programme, and his team identified the FSB unit responsible for the poisoning of Alexey Navalny in August 2020, as well as of Vladimir Kara-Murza and Dmitry Bykov. His investigations have led to indictments and sanctions against dozens of malign actors.
